We provide students, teachers, and families access to global education resources online
Join me and help make a difference, in the lives of our region's K-12 students! Please give today.
We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
We need your help to provide accessible global learning online!
Join me in supporting real change. The World Affairs Council is meeting the COVID-19 challenge and innovating to support our underserved students, teachers, and families in this region, with virtual Global Education resources, such as presentations from people from different countries, and classroom and home activities. We have experienced a loss in revenue of about $25,000 due to the COVID-19 restrictions, and we can't do it alone! Let’s support good in the world and make a difference. Help us help our community experience the world together for World Affairs Council.
Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for World Affairs Council - Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky!
The World Affairs Council is stepping up to meet the Covid-19 challenge of remote leaning through innovative new initiatives that offer exciting global education resources online. Our staff misses being in the classrooms with teachers and students. We also know that many parents want to ensure that their children are getting the age appropriate content they need to learn about our world. With your help, we can continue and expand our efforts until once again we can be in the classrooms with our future leaders.
We are trying to raise $25,000 by October 30. All contributions are welcome!
This is how you can help.
We are asking key partners to rally their friends, family, and networks to support our work. By setting up your own page to support the World Affairs Council - Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, you will help more students, teachers, and families experience the world together, and you'll help your friends feel good about doing good. Will you support our efforts?
We'll give you all the tools you'll need to set up your page and share our efforts and need. With financial support, we can do more!
Here’s a sample of our new programming which we want to expand:
Tech to Students Initiative – In a pilot project, we raised fund to provide thirty 2nd grade students in need at Sixth District Elementary in Covington, KY with a Chromebook and Wi-Fi for remote learning thanks to our amazing supporters who donated and a partnership with United Way of Greater Cincinnati. We need your support to reach these students in their pathway to be Global Ambassadors for our council by creating new online learning programs for them. Sponsor a student ambassador today.
Around the World Family Event - Every Saturday in August, we have been focusing on four diverse culinary traditions and learning about different countries virtually. We started with India! Food preparation and developing healthy eating habits is a wonderful portal to global learning. We are seeking to expand this program in the fall.
You can watch the webinars now by clicking here on Facebook! This is with thanks to the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Kroger, Magnified Giving, and 84.51°.
International Education Summit - Our annual event for high school students raises awareness about global issues and careers and supports the work of our teachers. Instead of a one-day event, we are expanding to a week-long virtual experience on the theme of “Peace and Justice” from November 16-20, 2020 and are working with regional World Affairs Councils in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana to add programming and reach more students. Topics include: Environmental Justice, The Power of Global Protests, Mental Health & Global Environment, Global Speed Networking for International Jobs, and Global Storytelling. Students and teachers will hear from a diverse group of speakers representing government, community, business, and nonprofit organizations. Events will be recorded and available for viewing after the live event takes place. We are looking for sponsors starting at $250, so that we can offer these events to as many teachers and students as we can reach at no cost. Council members are also invited to attend.
Culture Boxes for Elementary Kids – Since we are not able to be with students in person, we are working with volunteers to develop country- focused videos for an online resource portal. We are also creating "Culture Boxes" with international snacks and art supplies so that families can make Rangoli, Sugar Skulls, Chinese Lanterns, and Origami at home. We currently have the funds to deliver 100 culture boxes to local schools and families, but with your support, our reach would be greatly amplified.

Art Meets World At Home for Young Learners - Jump into four traditional art forms from Japan, India, China, and Mexico with specific instructions. With these programs, students and families can learn about the history and culture of the Japanese people, while creating their own origami, or can brush up on their basic Mandarin, while creating lucky Chinese Lanterns, and so much more! We know that art is one of the best ways to engage young students in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades and get them excited about learning about other cultures. With your support, you will help provide the materials for these young learners!
