Linda Robinson, an internationally known expert on the post-9/11 “long wars,” discusses the status of the current wars against terrorism in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and globally and explains the options for concluding America’s combat roles in these conflicts.

Linda Robinson has authored prize-winning and bestselling books on U.S. special forces, Iraq and Afghanistan, based on extended travel in the region’s war zones, and since 2013 has led research teams at RAND in 20 studies to assess U.S. and coalition policy, strategy, military operations and stabilization and conflict resolution endeavors. She is currently part of a RAND team that is assessing the five-year U.S. program to train and equip program Iraqi and Syrian partner forces to defeat the Islamic State.
